Our Story
DPVC was born in 1972 as the Dinas Powys Council of Social Services
The name changed in 1986 to Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern (DPVC) but the primary purpose ‘to coordinate and extend voluntary and statutory services which seek to improve the quality of life of the elderly, people with disability or those disadvantaged in other ways who live in Dinas Powys’, remained largely the same.
Today, DPVC achieves its objectives and delivers its services to a growing number of residents in a wide variety of ways. Supported by a small local authority grant and by lottery and other agency-funded projects, the charity enjoys a reputation of having good service delivery strategies, efficient management and a team of excellent volunteers.
With the Dinas Powys community ageing and related health issues developing, the need for informal care and professional, associated services is rising. Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern continues to provide friendly local services and the website provides information about all that is on offer in and around Dinas Powys.
