DPVC run a long term befriending project. It aims to reduce social isolation of older people in Cardiff and the Vale. Originally supported by the Big Lottery the project is now completely funded by DPVC. Volunteers from DPVC encourage and support older people to become more involved with their communities, families and friends.We can offer short or long term befriending, telephone befriending, support to get out and about again after a hospital stay or bereavement or illness. Both men and women often find it difficult to readjust after losing, or becoming separated from, family or friends. One of the aims of this project is to help reduce feelings of loss and isolation by developing a social network within the community.
DPVC has a dedicated co ordinator whose role is to develop and expand the support already offered by them.
